I have noticed many people using lip balm recently. It is that time of the year it is most popular as a sunscreen.
Well I figured if your going to use lip balm, it might as well be something you like the taste of. Check out Bacon Balm. It is a real product, and is very popular.
Today we enjoy a recipe from Kelly Andersen of Phelps. Kelly said that this is a bluegill recipe from her grandma.
Today we dine on…Kelly's Grandma's Bluegill.
The Parts:
1 pound bluegill or crappie
1/4 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup dry bread crumbs
1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons minced fresh parsley
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon dried basil
1/4 teaspoon pepper
Makin' It:
Place butter in a shallow bowl. In another shallow bowl, combine the bread crumbs, cheese and seasonings. Dip fish in butter, then coat with crumb mixture.
Place in a greased 15-in. x 10-in. x 1-in. baking pan. Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 20 minutes or until fish flakes easily with a fork.

Today on the eve of the fishing opener, we enjoy a delicious treat from Marcus Weithorn of Land O' Lakes.
Marcus say's that this recipe is simple, easy, and his kids love it. This is...Oven Walleye
The Parts: 6 Walleye fillets
1 cup olive oil, divided
6 ounces butter, melted
4 cups French Bread hand crumbled
salt and pepper
1-1/2 cups Parmesan cheese.
Makin' It: Heat 1/4 cup olive oil in pan.
Salt and pepper fillets and saute for about 2 - 3 minutes on each side until just done.
Place in 9 X 13 glass pan and cover fillet's with bread crumb mixture.
Place in oven for 10 - 15 minutes until brown on top.

Today's recipe come's all the way from my mother. Yes, Ma! And by family law, I have to post it. But by radio station law, she does not get a free fish fry. Sorry Ma!
Today we dine on.
Ma Wolf's Oven Fried Fish Fillets
The Parts: 4 Tablespoons butter (1/2 stick)
2/3 cups crushed crackers (Ritz)
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1 pound sole, scrod, perch, or other fish.
Makin' It:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Melt the butter in a 9 by 13 inch pan in the oven.
While it melts combine everything else except fish in a pie pan.
Dip the fish around in the melted butter, dip each piece in the crumb mixture, and return it to the baking pan.
Bake the fillets for 20 to 25 minutes or until the fish flakes with a fork.
Serve with lemon wedges.

Alright, on to the business of the day. Today's recipe. It comes from Jay Carpenter of Eagle River. According to Jay, it is a recipe that his father used on many fishing trips.
Today we dine on Jay's Dads Fish.
The Parts: 2 Lbs. Walleye Fillets
1 Cup Plain White Flour
1 Tsp Salt
1 Tsp Baking Soda
1 Can Flat Beer
1 Egg
Your favorite cooking oil
Makin' It: Wash Fillets and cut into serving size pieces.
Mix dry ingredients, then add egg and stir in beer until consistency is like thick gravy.
Pre-heat oil to 350 Degrees.
Place battered Walleye pieces in hot oil and fry until golden brown.
Walleye is fully cooked when pieces float to the top of hot oil.

So here we are on a fantastic day, okay better than fantastic. Why? Because it's FISH FRYYYYYYYYYYYYYY FRIDAY!

Today we are going to dine on a dandy little recipe fro Ken Petrowski of Boulder Junction. Ken uses this recipe for his shore lunches.
The Parts: 2 cups of Bisquick
1 cup of flour
1/2 tablespoon black pepper
1/2 tablespoon of cayenne papper
1/2 tablespoon of onion powder
1/2 tablespoon of Italian Seasoning
1 tablespoon of garlic powder
1 tablespoon of paprika
1 tablespoon of popcorn salt
Makin It: Mix ingredients vigorously in plastic bag until uniform in color.
Roll or shake water-moistened fillets in dry coating.
Pan fry in skillet at 350 degrees on each side until golden brown.
