Good Mosquito infested day to you and Happy FISH FRYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY FRIDAY!.

The Northwoods mosquito population is out of this world right now. We are waiting for a dragon fly hatch, and hoping it comes soon. My wife and I were out securing a deck board last night and we did all we could to maintain composure in the 2 minute job. we were getting pummeled by a swarm of the little blood suckers. If your planning a visit bring lots of 100% deet. It may kill you, but the mosquitos will not.

Okay today we have a recipe from Kelly Brewster of Boulder Junction. Kelly said that this is the Brewster family favorite. Today we dine on spicy fish.

The Parts:
6 nice fish fillets
Salt
Pepper
Flour
1 stick butter
1 onion, finely chopped
3 c. canned tomatoes
1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp. catsup
1/2 lemon
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tsp. salt
Cayenne

Makin It:
Dredge fish in a mixture of salt, pepper and flour, and place in the bottom of a 9x13 baking dish.

Melt butter; add onion, and simmer until tender.

Add tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce, catsup, lemon, garlic, salt, and cayenne.

Cook until mixture is hot.

Pour over fish and bake for an hour at 350.

Kelly, this sounds wonderful. Your fish is in the mail.

Don't forget that if you have a recipe to share send it in. If I use it here on my Friday blog, you will receive a free fish fry from a local Northwoods restaurant. Send you recipe to wolf@wrjo.com.

Well because of the remote tomorrow, today we celebrate FISH FRYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY FRIDAY. This recipe is from Scott McClaren of Elcho. Scott said this is just a great fish recipe. Today we dine on Scott's fish.

The Parts:
4 nice fillets
2 egg whites
2 tablespoons cool water
3/4 cup yellow cornmeal
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
Black pepper, or to taste
Salt to taste
1 1/2 cups vegetable oil, or more as needed

Makin' It:
Stir egg whites and water together with a fork in a wide, shallow bowl. Mix cornmeal, flour, and pepper together with a fork on a plate.

Heat oil to 350 degrees.

Dip each fillet into the egg white mixture and press into the cornmeal mixture to coat completely. Gently shake extra cornmeal away. Place fish onto a plate while preparing the rest of the fillets; do not stack.

Fry until golden brown on each side.

Season with salt.

Very nice Scott. Sound like a winner. Your fish is on the way.

Hello and welcome to FISH FRYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY FRIDAY!!!!!

Not a bad day at all. I did rather enjoy the snow on my ride home from work yesterday. All the lakes are open now and waiting to warm up a bit to fire up that fish bite.

Well today we have a fish recipe from Allen Wrightburg of Minnetonka MN. Allen has a family cabin on lake Tomahawk and said that this is the recipe they use while in the Northwoods. Today we dine on Wrightburg Walleye.

The Parts:
4 large walleye fillets
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons seasoned salt
2 eggs
1/2 cup dark beer
1 1/2 cups crispy bread crumbs
Oil for frying

Makin' It:
In shallow dish, mix flour and seasoned salt.

In medium bowl, beat eggs and beer with whisk.

Place bread crumbs in large resealable food-storage plastic bag.

Coat both sides of fish fillets with flour mixture, then dip in beer mixture, letting excess drip back into bowl.

Place 1 or 2 pieces of fish at a time in plastic bag with bread crumbs; seal bag and shake to coat completely.

Fry fish in batches in 350 degree oil about 4 minutes, turning once, until golden brown.

Drain on paper towels. Serve hot.

Thanks Allen, sounds great. Your fish is on the way.

Good Wednesday

I had a link sent to me by my mom and thought how wild it is. This is something that you will never see again in the history of advertising.

It really shows as a society that we will advertise mindless games that will let us destroy the world or blow someone up at the push of a button but we no longer advertise something that may make your brain do some work to differentiate between real life and play time.

Don't get me wrong, I love a good video game. I love to break out my Atari 2600 and kick back to a round or two of space invaders. But ya gotta admit that some of the games these day's are pretty crazy compared to shooting at a pixilated alien ship.

Also, it's just a cool video and toy.

Have a great day day and enjoy the commercial.
