Good Morning, Good Afternoon, and Good Evening and Happy FISH FRYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY FRIDAY!

As we do every FFF, it's recipe time.

The recipe I chose for today is from Basil Krietlow of Manitowish Waters. The reason I chose this one for today, is because it is the same recipe my grandma used to make fish. It is so simple, but it puts the delicious fish from and center.

Today we dine on flour fish.

The Parts:
1 lb fish filets
1 cup all purpose flour
Season Salt to taste
1 stick butter

Makin It:
Heat a pad or two of butter in a pan.

Take damp fish fillets and dredge in flour. Knock excess flour off fillets.

Cook fillets in pan till both sides are brown and flaky.

Thanks Basil. By the way, in my grandmas fryin' of the fish she used butter flavored Crisco. Give that a try. Your fish is on the way.

Now don't forget, if you have a recipe that everyone should try get it to me. All recipes can be sent by e-mails, letter, or dropped off her at the studios in Eagle River. If I use you recipe on this blog you will receive a FREE fish fry to a local restaurant.

Snail Mail: P.O. Box 309 Eagle River, WI 54521
Drop Off: 909 North Railroad (Hwy 45) Eagle River, WI

So we obviously will not be checking in with Laura Lockwood from Weather Eye while I am filling in for Amy Linnett.

But even though we are not speaking for 2 weeks, Laura is still trying to push her crazy weather lady and astrological views on us.

After my spam filter did not block her last e-mail, I took time to read it under dourest. This is pretty cool however.

The full moon occurs once every 29.53 days; in August we saw the 1st (known as the Sturgeon Moon) and a second we will see on the 31st (known as the Blue Moon). The next Blue Moon will occur in July of 2015.

The Blue Moon makes an appearance every 2.72 years on average, but you can get two Blue Moons in a single year. This happened in 1999 in January and in March. The next time this will be possible will be in 2018.

The definition of what is and is not a Blue Moon has morphed over the years. In the New England area in the 1930's the term "Blue Moon" was used to describe the third full moon in season with four (instead of the usual three). In recent years more people have embraced the term "Blue Moon" to describe a second full moon in a given month.

The second full moon, or Blue Moon will be August 31st at 8:58am CDT.

Thanks Laura. Now back to your telescope.

Have a great Tuesday.

Maybe it's because it's Monday. Maybe it's because I am not a complex person. Maybe it's because I am distracted by shinny objects.

But this is the simplest, coolest, gonna try it when I get home thing ever.

So it begins. Getting up early for 2 1/2 weeks to fill in for Amy. If anyone wants to tag in and take my spot, just let me know.

I have to say, the only nerve racking thing is making sure I get up early enough. Making sure the alarm is set and goes off. Or even sleeping through it. So I did som research and have 2 new alarm clocks that will be perfect for making sure I get going.

#1 is the Hide and Go Seek. There's no excuse for waking up late with this alarm clock. As soon as you hit "snooze," Clocky jumps off your nightstand and begins moving around the floor, looking for somewhere to hide. Nothing like a little hide-and-go-seek to rouse you from your slumber.

#2 is fun. It's Called Puzzled. There's probably nothing more annoying than putting together a puzzle before you've even had a cup of coffee, but with the Puzzle Alarm Clock, you'll have to do just that. Once your alarm goes off, three puzzle pieces go flying in the air, and you have to return the colored shapes to the correct places in order to shut it off.

Who ever knew alarm clocks could be fun but yet SO ANNOYING!

Well, wish me luck and we'll see you at 6am tomorrow...maybe.

Good Tuesday.

Well it has started already. You give folks a little cool weather and they start thinkin' Polar Bear Plunge. We have taken calls for plunger's wanting waiver and pledge forms. So they are now posted on the WRJO website. You can click on Pally the Polar Bear to see the webpage for the info.

I can't figure out if it is that folks are tired of the warm, football hit's the air and sparks something, or they are looking forward to the change of season. But as much as I love the plunge, COME ON, don't rush things.

I haven't got enough long sunshine day's. I have yet, yes not once, been out fishing this year. I love to ice fish, but I do NOT want that to be the first time I get out.

If you are hankerin' for some Polar Bear fun, I would suggest filling up your bathtub with ice and water and soak. Not to long, but long enough to get the taste knocked outta' ya'.

Don't forget to mark your calendar for January 5th, 2013 for the 13th Annual Northwoods Original Polar Bear Plunge to benefit Angel On My Shoulder.

Of course this year will be bigger and better than ever. If you have never joined us make plans for a very fun day. If you would like info from last year, click this link,
http://www.wrjo.com/pages/11257591.php?

Well, I hope to see you at this years plunge, BUT, not to soon!

So the week is rollin' on and WRJO is getting set for a big weekend at the Vilas County Fair. Join us on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. We will have the WRJO Summer of Winning Slot machine fired up and ready for you to take a free spin.

So have you been watching the Olympics? I have to say that I have watched more this year than in years past. Don't know why, but I have. I just wish that when they say they are going to cover track and field, that they actually cover the field part. I would love to see more of the Pole Vault, High Jump, Shot Put, Hammer Throw, etc...

When it comes to running however, WOW, the speeds are crazy. We saw the Womens Hurdles last night. Sally Pearson from Australia won the gold. What a performance.

As you know by now Usain Bolt defended his worlds fastest man but have you seen the class he has?

As American Sanya Richards-Ross awaited her gold medal for winning the 400-meter dash, the “Star Spangled Banner” began to play. At the same time, Bolt was being interviewed by a Spanish journalist.

This is where it gets good.

Instead of continuing along and talking about, well, whatever he was talking about, Bolt halts the interview, asks the reporter to be respectful of the moment, and stands in silence to honor the U.S. national anthem and Richards-Ross’ victory.

Now that is class! Click the link below and watch the video.

Hope you have a Great day.
