***** WARNING***** WARNING***** WARNING*****
The question I get asked most often these days from just about anyone has to do with our wedding plans and "how they are going". It makes perfect sense particularly since we are only a couple of short months away, and it is always so sweet to hear that people are truly interested so I thought I would just give you an update to this point and just like any other wedding, we are ALREADY having our share of ups and downs with the plans.

At this point we have our guest list done, invitations are designed and ordered, we have everything set with the place where the wedding and reception will be taking place, wedding rings are purchased, all of the bridesmaids chose and ordered their dresses (and at least 2 of them are already here and ready to try on and have altered as needed), tuxes are chosen, my dress is being altered (and as an extra "up" part of this, it fits! – just taking care of the bustle and a few minor "fitting" issues), groomsmen and bridesmaids gifts are purchased, flowers and decorations are decided, cake is being taken care of …. all of this is on the "up" part of the list which is GOOD!

Now for the "downs" and thankfully there are only a couple! I am trying to get another copy of my birth certificate, for whatever reason I can't find it and have to have it in order to get our marriage license. I assume that I am far enough out to get it in time since we can't get the license until 30 days before the wedding but since I have to deal with a state and a different state than Wisconsin, I am just hoping there isn't too much red tape. The only other issue we have run into is our band for the wedding, we just found out at the end of last week that unfortunately they have double booked the date and are now not available to play at our wedding, not good but not somehow became slightly worse when the two possible DJ's we were trying to book called me this Sunday to tell me they were also unavailable so there is a little "stressarella" factor beginning but we are looking into back-up plans so on that front, please wish us luck.

We also have the entire honeymoon planned, we have our driving route chosen along with stops along the way, the flight back is booked, hotels are booked, the rental car is booked and we even have some activities already booked and paid for!

All in all things are going very well, I am getting more nervous as we get closer not having EVERYTHING completed because I know summers are so busy around here for us but bottom line is …… the day is coming and it is after all just one day, we will be ready, everyone will have a great time and no matter what happens at the end of it all I will be married to the most wonderful man in the world that I will be able to spend the rest of my days with!

Well, tomorrow is a big day!! We go and get our wedding invitations designed and ordered so that they will get out in the mail next month which is very big for me because it will keep things on trackand keep me from stressing out as we approach the BIG DAY. Also, anyone who hasn't yet booked their rooms will have a friendly reminder before they are unable to get a room.

Also, I am meeting with the seamstress who will be doing my alterations on my dress. We are just planning on getting the bustle ready to be done but since I haven't tried the dress on since I bought it I am a little nervous. I have been faithfully working out at the gym and watching what I eat and I have dropped a few pounds so I should be fine, if not ............... I did happen to catch a segment on the news about brides-to-be who have feeding tubes inserted to lose weight before their BIG DAY....... hmmmm ......... wish me luck!

P.S. - I am totally joking about the feeding tube thing just so you know. I really did see the segment and apparently it really is a new "wedding fad" but NOT my thing!

Happy Hump Day!!

I don't know what the deal is lately and maybe it just has to do with the teasing that Mother Nature is doing to us, maybe it is that there always seem to be more things to do than hours of the day but even though time is flying by, these last couple of weeks seem to have taken FOREVER to get through …..

This past weekend though I had a great time and was able to slow down! I spent the weekend with my good friends Eric and Tricia Schoeneck and their beautiful children, 2 ½ year old Masen and their 2 week old daughter Adisyn. I went over after work on Friday, Dick joined me on Saturday afternoon and I finally handed the baby back to Mom and Dad about 10am Sunday morning! How odd it is to hold a baby and sit on the floor blowing bubbles with a 2 year old especially considering Dick and I have 3 kids that will be "moving on" come Fall, maybe that's what makes time feel like it is going by so quickly. I remember being able to sit with Taylor at that age just coloring or playing with dolls or reading her stories and now, she is actually in Milwaukee for an appointment with the school that she will be attending this Fall. Dick has similar memories of spending the same kind of time with his sons when they were that age and now his oldest will be leaving for the Fox Valley in September to attend broadcasting school and his youngest will be attending tech school this winter to become certified in welding.. my how time flies!

Enjoy the rest of your Wednesday (but don't blink, you might miss it)

Happy Tuesday!!

Quite the change in the weather today but I suppose the fact that it is still March it should have been expected particularly from those of us who have spent any amount of time living in the Northwoods. I have to admit; even though we anticipated a bit more of the cooler weather I still (like so many others) jumped the gun a bit. We have already cleaned out and "summerized" our wood stove, the patio furniture is out and in use (same with the grill) and just this past weekend Dick put away the snow blower and took out the garden tractor and the two of us spent a few hours getting the motorcycles ready for the season, batteries are in, fluids are good and they are cleaned and polished and ready to hit the highway BUT we have proved to be long-time residents because the bikes are still in the garage and have been re-covered up, the plastic is still on the windows in the house and no outdoor planting has begun! Soon enough we will be able to enjoy all the benefits (and busyiness) of the summer season but for now we will still have to pace ourselves.

This past weekend we also took time to sit down with the owner of the resort where we are getting married to finalize details of the reception and any last minute questions we had regarding the meal, music, décor, lodging for guests, ceremony location, etc. were put to rest. There is still much to do and the window of time to get it done is getting smaller all the time, but being able to put closure to some of the "nagging details" has allowed me to renew my promise to keep my anxious "stressarella" tendencies to a minimum :).

Beyond that, we have so many things planned for this year here at the station that it promises to be as busy a summer as we've had (and THAT is saying a lot!) Be sure to stay tuned just to keep up with all of it or check our website regularly as we will have everything listed on there including our upcoming Business Expo at the end of April.

Well, gotta go for now, Bruce Marcus is done with the newscast and it's time for me to take my place behind the microphone for the morning show and don't forget to come out to the Brown Barn Bath Company in Minocqua today, I will be broadcasting live from 11-2 and they are having all items in the store 20% off for today only!

Hope to see you there :)!

Ok, I admit it ….. I caught it ….. AND I think that I have a bad case of it ……. yes, I am talking about the dreaded (and much contagious) SPRING FEVER!!!!

I understand that I am not the only one and I can assure you that every living creature in my home is experiencing the same affliction and for some, the cure is easy for others, we will still have to wait a bit longer for relief.

The animals are easy, the dog is able to sit out in the yard for longer periods of time and alternate between running back and forth chasing the rabbits that take of residency under our deck each year and just lounging in the sun and the cat has taken up the annoying habit of meowing loudly at the doors asking to be let out but seeing as she is an INDOOR cat, that will not happen, however opening the windows on the screen door has afforded her the opportunity to balance her feet on the hinge and paws on the window ledge so that she can peek over at us when we are on the deck has seemed to at least pacify her for the time being.

As for the kids, well, one of the boys has already begun his summer of landscaping work, my daughter has already gotten a start on her tan and my other stepson has gotten out to do a bit of bike riding.

As for us, we had a HUGE bonfire on Friday night (hopefully the first of many), got out the deck furniture, took the grill out of hibernation and put it to use and spent a bit of time enjoying the weather. Now if it will only stay warm, melt the rest of the snow in the yard and rain a little to clear all of the sand off the roads we can remove the plastic from all the windows, clean up the yard, detail the vehicles and finally wake the motorcycles from their long winter's nap!

Here's hoping that if you and yours are suffering from the same affliction that the cure for all of our SPRING FEVER is right around the corner :).

Enjoy your week!
