Well, I have to admit that I have joined the ranks of all who make New Years Resolutions to “tone up and lose weight” as I went and joined a gym yesterday. I am trying to have some realistic goals – working out everyday is not something I have time for especially as we get closer to our busy summer season so I have decided to give it a go three days a week for the next 4 months (before we get too crazy around here!) and that should help me reach my expected goal – look better, feel better and be sure that when it comes to alteration time, my wedding dress is taken in and not let out!!
You may be wondering why I waited until February to join instead of right away in January but I do have some very good reasons for that, first of all, January is a busy month for us, with the Polar Bear Plunge and then Camp Angel it seems as though every weekend is full. Secondly, I checked out the gym I joined a couple of weeks into the month of January and was told that I might want to wait because by February only some of the people that joined and committed at the first of the year still come in regularly, unfortunately it seems as though by the end of that first month there are a lot of people that leave their resolution behind. I have to admit as I sit here and write this I do understand that thought process a little bit – I spent more than an hour there yesterday on a variety of machines working a variety of muscles that have apparently been hibernating for a bit and even with a heavy diet of Advil last night before bed – I feel the burn! But I will not let it beat me – I will be back at it this afternoon so wish me luck!! - Amy Linnett
